Dear Shri Kumaraswamy
Thank you very much for directing me to a very interesting page.
I checked the pages at
http://www.crystalinks.com/grandcanyon.html
http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/esp_orionzone_9.htm
They talk about G. E. Kinkaid described as “an explorer and hunter all his life’” and “thirty years having been in the service of the Smithsonian Institute”. It is about his discovery during 1909 of a cavern, nearly inaccessible, at the bottom of the Grand Canyon down the Colorado river, some forty-two miles up the river from the El Tovar Crystal canyon. The entrance is 1,486 feet down the sheer canyon wall.
Kinkaid talks of his coming upon a cross-hall, several hundred feet long in which he found an idol ,carved out of hard rock , resembling marble sitting cross-legged, with a lotus flower or lily in each hand. Surrounding this idol are smaller images, some very beautiful in form, others crooked-necked and distorted shapes.
Although the report describes the sculpture as ‘ Buddha-like’, It resemble more of Shiva , Pashpathi.
There are also many who doubt the authenticity of Kincaid’s claims; and , even wonder whether Kincaid could have been a fictitious character.
I am not sure if there are any further references to the Shiva-like idol discovered by Kinkaid in the Grand Canyon. In case you come across such references , please let me know.
Thanks again
Regards
